Concept

Aichi Prefecture’s Arimatsu Narumi district has more tie-dyed products than any other area in Japan. Its tie-dye history spans 400 years, and Aichi Prefecture is the first area in Japan where cotton was cultivated. But these traditional industries are in decline. We intend to contribute to our regional community by pursuing the resurrection of our traditional industries, the memories of the unique history of Aichi, the earth/place where we live, through a wide appeal at the Triennale. We propose a modern product: a special Aichi eco-bag, combining the Triennale logo with traditional tie-dyeing. The quality of the handwork will serve not only as a reminder of the Triennale, but also as a way to spread the magnificence of Aichi’s creative manufacturing.
